Seniors Have You Been To Vienna?
Vienna, Virginia that is. CNN Money has chosen Vienna VA as the third Best Place to Live out of 50 total. Seniors, there must be some great attractions to win this honor. Vienna was established in 1890 and the local citizens are mighty proud of that fact. David Baldacci lives in Vienna and I’d love to meet him in person… he is one of my favorite authors.
Vienna is a town of 16,000 in Fairfax County, Virginia. Wikipedia can fill in lots of blanks for first timer senior visitors with some fascinating history. TripAdvisor highlighted the Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts, the Meadowlark Botanical Garden and the Reston Zoo.
For you senior clubbers, the Jammin Java Music Club and Cafe is just awaiting your visit. The Club opened in 2001 and has hosted several thousand acts in the years since. The Gardens are situated on nearly 100 acres and offer events throughout the year. There are dozens of tourist attractions that can be found in every direction from Vienna. Looking for more action? There are seven Colleges/Universities within 12 miles of Vienna that have over 2000 students.
Historic Vienna Lures Senior Visitors
The Windover Heights Historic District is located in northwest Vienna. Many of the homes with distinctive architectural features were the sites of significant events in the town’s history, or belonged to prominent citizens. The Walk on the Hill spring garden tour in the historic district is held the last Sunday afternoon in April each year, sponsored by Historic Vienna, Inc. and the residents of the Hill section.
Close to DC, Vienna is known throughout the area as a vibrant historic town. Word of caution seniors… the car is king in Vienna. It’s the most practical way to get around in most of northern Virginia due to a very basic mass transit system, and urban sprawl.
