SENIORS SKI IN MORZINE FRANCE

Morzine A Great Choice For Senior Skiers

This senior has been all over France. Last count over thirty times, however I was not acquainted with Morzine.  It was selected as one of the top ten tourist attractions in France by Touropia, but then again I don’t know much about Touropia either.

Morzine is a commune in the Haute-Savoie department in the Rhône-Alpes region in eastern France with panoramic mountain views, modern ski facilities and hotels and restaurants. Morzine is home to the annual French Mountain Villages Football Tournament (Tournoi des Montagnes).

Morzine is a long-established year-round resort that’s easy to like. With its gentle wooded slopes, they say that “it’s a good place to be in a snowstorm.” There is no main rail link to Morzine from Geneva or Paris,  so the way to travel is by car .

Seniors Snow Ski And Mountain Bike

Few doubt the value of ski lessons for beginners and lessons are available at Morzine for all levels of skiers. Senior skiers will have access to to 423 individual pistes, served by 209 ski lifts.

Morzine’s first ski area links the resort over to neighboring Les Gets on the slopes of Mount Ranfolly, between the two villages. With skiing between 1000m (3280 feet) and 2000 m (6560 feet) the trails are largely easy or intermediate level, down through the densely forested slopes.

I enjoy reading Guides of any world destination and Morzine has a good one, including videos, latest news, and events taking place. If you enjoy downhill mountain biking, it is very big in what is called the Portes du Soleil (Sunshine Doors) and centered around Morzine.

Many claim the Portes du Soleil is the best available in Europe, if not the entire world. Of particular interest is the Kona Bike Park in the near-by town of Les Gets. This is a custom constructed area with drops, berms and jump including plenty to challenge all but the bravest of cyclists.

 Luxury To Family Run Chalets

Read what Jeremy Skidmore has to say about Morzine. “My companions and I decided to ski in Morzine because, as a relatively low resort at 1,000m, it is more accessible than many. Higher resorts may offer more chance of snow, but they can be three to four hours’ drive from the airport, which is not ideal when time is tight. We also hired a car at Geneva airport…and we were at our accommodation within 90 minutes. So far, so good.”

Senior visitors will find several luxury accommodations, with three officially rated 4-star luxury catered chalets, two self-catered apartments and a French family-run chalet-hotel. From winter skiing and summer alpine holidays, to walking, golf and sightseeing, there’s bound to be something to attract your attention. So get ready for a great holiday in the French Alps.  jeb
