Seniors Take To The Rail
I know senior citizens who have traveled by train and enjoyed it immensely. One trip was across Canada from one ocean to the other. Would that be of interest to you? If so, get your cup of coffee and read on.

I’ve traveled some distance in Europe on the TGV and Eurostar. My daughter and I traveled from Prague to Vienna and on to Budapest by rail. It’s a neat way to travel. You’ll have as much fun getting where you’re going as you do when you arrive on site.
You’re not confined to a seat as in a car, motor coach, or a plane. You’re free to stroll to the lounge cars for refreshments and games as great scenery goes flying by your window. And enjoy good meals too.
Unfortunately we do not have the luxury of rails all over our country like after WWII when the Marshall Plan first rebuilt the devastated rail lines in Europe. They have benefited immensely ever since. I know that there are some very fine AMTRAK rail lines in the East and across our country, and now California is considering a super fast line from San Diego to LA and beyond I believe.
Great Travel For Seniors
Trains make great travel options for seniors. Imagine it’s that time of year when you start thinking about taking a vacation. Part of the work involves choosing an ideal location while the hard part can be making travel arrangements. How are you going to get there, perhaps by plane, car, or bus?
While those options may be your first thoughts, train travel is a wonderful idea that sometimes gets overlooked. In recent years, train travel has increased substantially; a 2010 poll said 62 percent of Americans would probably choose to travel by train.
The group responsible for most of the increase in train travel is senior citizens, and for a number of fine reasons. So talk with your travel agent and make plans to take a memorable trip by train somewhere in the US or abroad. It’s easy to do and it will be easy to accomplish. jeb
